What does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors are able to use a variety of techniques and modalities to treat people, such as electro physical therapy, mobilisations, adjustments, soft tissue work, rehabilitation exercises, and ergonomic advice to name a few.
Adjustments to some problematic spinal joints known as facet joints are sometimes performed to try and improve the control movement of the spinal joints and help reduce stress on areas such as the facet capsules and improve synovial fluid movement.
The chiropractic adjustment may also help improve nutrient supply, proprioception, as well as reduce pressure on nerves. This functional improvement may help reduce pain.
Chiropractic is a form of physical therapy, primarily interested in improving the physical and neurological health of your spine.
Initial consultation involves reviewing your new patient form and discussing your history with you as well as performing a physical examination if needed. An x-ray may also be required and if so a referral will be arranged.
Subsequent visits are shorter in nature and may require manipulation, soft tissue work and or exercise advice. Frequency and intensity of your visits will be determined on a case by case basis.
